Braiding Sweetgrass

I have begun reading this inspiring book by Robin Wall Kimmerer. She is a mother, scientist, decorated professor and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi nation. Her reflective stories of her upbringing, her ancestors, how her academic success first took her away from her connection with nature, then returned her to a place where it all blends.  Or is that just my reflection on her words. My heart resonated with her personal self descriptions. I am not aboriginal. However something is striking a beautiful chord with my own story.

In The Path to a More Inspiring Future, page34, I wrote:

Who am I?

I ask my head. No reply.

I breathe into my heart.

My heart lovingly answers

“I am a creation

here to be strong in love,

serving my passion.”

I am grateful.

It takes time to be able to paint a picture of who you really are. All parts of who you are. It is worth a try.

Till next time,

Marie Knapp
